Afghanistan is going through tough times ever since the Taliban has taken over the nation. The heart-wrenching pictures and videos from the country have left people across the globe in a state of shock. 

And one such person is actress Saumya Tandon, who we last saw playing Anita Bhabi in her TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. The actress took to her Instagram story to share an old picture of her from Afghanistan and in an interview also opened up how the situation there has let her worried about the friends she has there. In her Instagram story, sharing a picture with an Afghanistan man, Saumya wrote, "Prayers with my friends in Afghanistan. I acted as an Afghani girl and stayed there for a month, long back." Also in an interview with TOI, Saumya said that she had visited Kabul in 2008, and it is heartbreaking for her to see how people are scrambling for their lives and the visuals are extremely disturbing. Though she is praying for their safety. She is also concerned about the friends she made during her stay". 

Saumya who went there to shoot for an International Project and stayed for a month recounts, "There were two women in the unit, including my co-actor and a crew member. They told me how difficult it was for women and how much they had to fight for their freedom. My co-actors spoke about the constant terror they lived in. They were living in fear and uncertainty for many years and look what has happened to them again.”

During her stay period, Saumya ended up making few friends and now she is concerned about them as she is unable to reach them, “After the recent unrest, I tried contacting my Indian friends through whom I had gone there, but I didn’t get any reply. I hope they are safe. I just want to reach out and ask them if they are okay because the visuals that we are seeing are very disturbing. I feel helpless, but my prayers are with them and my heart goes out to them.”
